To change the whole PKI is a lot of hassle if you have a lot of clients but the OpenVPN docs tell that they won´t use this directive anymore with OpenVPN version >= 2.5.x (am currently unsure if the new OpenSSL-1.1.0 have there also a problem ??) so also for the clients which currently works, there is not that much time until then to fix this
